Nutanix today announced that Yelo, one of Saudi Arabia’s leading transportation solutions providers, has modernized its entire infrastructure using Nutanix technologies, achieving major improvements in performance, availability, and cost efficiency. The transformation has delivered 99.99% database availability, 20% faster response times, 30% lower latency, and a dramatic improvement in customer service consistency. Automated patching has strengthened security by reducing vulnerabilities and protecting customer and organizational data. Meanwhile, database consolidation has driven a 50% reduction in monthly cloud costs, with simplified maintenance further decreasing the Total Cost of Ownership (TCO).

Yelo’s reputation as Saudi Arabia’s top transportation solutions provider stems from its relentless focus on creating seamless, personalized, and convenient digital experiences—across booking, registration, pickup, drop-off, payments, and customer support. However, its fragmented database landscape—spread across multiple engine types and split between on-premises and cloud environments—posed a significant challenge to scalability and the smooth flow of digital data.

“Our team spent substantial time maintaining systems, which limited our scalability, slowed innovation, and increased expenses,” said Abdelrahim Alhanbali, IT Director at Yelo.

Following a comprehensive Proof of Concept (PoC) with Nutanix, supported by analyst reports and strong references from Saudi customers, Yelo selected Nutanix as its strategic technology partner. The company deployed the full Nutanix stack, including its cloud platform, virtualization technologies, storage solutions, and database management platform.

“Standardizing on Nutanix removed the complexity we were struggling with. Consolidating all our databases on a single platform cut our monthly cloud bill by half, and the IT time we recovered helped reduce TCO even further,” Alhanbali added.

The operational improvements have been transformative. With Nutanix’s one-click provisioning, database provisioning time dropped from two weeks to just 90 minutes. One-click patching now allows Yelo to update 50 databases in under a week, compared to more than six weeks previously.

Performance gains have been equally impressive: database throughput has increased by over 30%, concurrent user capacity has risen by 40%, and availability has surpassed 99.99%. “This translates directly into better customer experiences,” said Alhanbali. “Customers visiting any Yelo branch—or using our all-in-one app—can register, choose their preferred vehicle, complete paperwork, and make payments quickly and smoothly. Nutanix Database Service works behind the scenes to deliver that speed and reliability.”

Automation has also significantly enhanced security. Nutanix Database Service has reduced patching time by 5x, ensuring systems handling sensitive customer data—such as identification, payment information, and location details—remain continuously up to date and secure.

Alhanbali praised Nutanix’s support as a key part of the partnership’s success:
“Whenever we raise a ticket, Nutanix’s engineers respond quickly with accurate solutions. Their proactive monitoring and best-practice recommendations help us avoid issues and optimize performance.”

Looking ahead, Yelo plans to migrate additional database workloads to Nutanix and explore advanced capabilities across AI, machine learning, and analytics. “We see tremendous potential in using Nutanix’s technologies to extract richer insights from our data, improve decision-making, and drive new innovations that elevate our customer experience,” Alhanbali concluded.
