Firebird Opens Region’s Largest AI Factory and Expands Globally

Firebird has officially launched the region’s largest NVIDIA DSX AI Factory, marking the operational debut of its global AI infrastructure platform and positioning Armenia as an emerging strategic hub for artificial intelligence computing.

The official inauguration brought together senior political and technology leaders, including Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, NVIDIA Founder and CEO Jensen Huang, NVIDIA Vice President of Physical AI Simulation Rev Lebaredian, U.S. Embassy in Armenia Chargé d’Affaires ad interim David Allen, Deputy Prime Minister of Kazakhstan Zhaslan Madiyev, along with government officials, ambassadors, technology executives, academic leaders, investors and industry partners.

The participation of global leaders highlighted the growing strategic importance of AI infrastructure and computing capacity to national economies.

Prime Minister Nikol Pashinyan said the launch represents a significant achievement following the U.S.-Armenia Memorandum of Understanding on AI and technology cooperation signed a year earlier.

NVIDIA and CoreWeave Investments

Firebird also announced that NVIDIA intends to invest in the company, following an earlier investment by CoreWeave. According to Firebird, the investments will support the expansion of its global infrastructure and operational footprint as it develops large-scale AI compute clusters across frontier markets.

The company’s Armenian AI factory is expected to scale beyond 70,000 NVIDIA Rubin and Blackwell GPUs by the end of 2027. Firebird plans to expand the platform to approximately 300 megawatts of AI infrastructure capacity, potentially making it one of Europe’s largest AI infrastructure platforms.

Built using the NVIDIA DSX AI Factory reference design and interconnected with NVIDIA Spectrum-X Ethernet networking, the facility is designed to improve AI infrastructure economics by supporting up to 40% more GPUs within the same physical footprint while maximizing computing capacity per megawatt.

Firebird Expands Into Kazakhstan

Firebird’s international expansion is already moving beyond Armenia. Kazakhstan has become the company’s second market, where Firebird has secured 125 megawatts of AI infrastructure capacity at Data Center Valley.

The project has received the necessary approvals from the Government of Kazakhstan and export authorization from the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS).

With additional frontier markets under development, Firebird is targeting 2 gigawatts of AI infrastructure capacity by the end of 2028, positioning the company as one of the fastest-growing AI infrastructure networks globally.

Armenia Emerges as AI Computing Hub

Firebird Co-Founder Alexander Yesayan highlighted the speed at which the Armenian facility moved from construction to operational readiness.

“Just over six months ago, this was an empty construction site. Today, it is the region’s largest operational AI factory and the foundation of one of Europe’s most ambitious AI infrastructure programs,” Yesayan said.

The company said its roadmap to scale beyond 70,000 NVIDIA Rubin and Blackwell GPUs could establish Armenia as an important AI computing destination and strategic hub for the global AI economy.

NVIDIA Founder and CEO Jensen Huang said AI factories are becoming essential infrastructure for nations seeking to develop intelligence, drive economic growth and compete in the AI era.

“Together with Firebird, we are building AI infrastructure across Armenia and Kazakhstan that will give researchers, startups and industries the computing foundation to develop AI at home, attract innovators from around the world and participate in the global AI economy,” Huang said.

Dell Technologies Supports Sovereign AI Infrastructure

Michael Dell, Chairman and CEO of Dell Technologies, said Firebird’s Armenian AI factory demonstrates how countries can build the infrastructure required to develop and deploy AI locally.

Built on Dell Technologies infrastructure, the facility is designed to support sovereign AI adoption while creating opportunities for research, innovation and economic growth across the region.

Perplexity Named Among First Customers

Firebird also announced Perplexity as one of the first customers of its Armenian AI infrastructure platform.

Perplexity will use Firebird’s high-performance AI infrastructure to support its answer engine and AI-powered digital coworker platform. The partnership is expected to strengthen Armenia’s technology ecosystem and attract more AI-native companies to the country.

With the launch of its first AI factory, Firebird has moved from planning to operational execution. The company is now building a global AI infrastructure platform designed to serve the growing demand for secure and scalable computing capacity across emerging AI markets.
