Sanjiv Patankar to Lead FinTech Operations Across Digital Payments, Embedded Finance and Tokenisation

Comviva has appointed Sanjiv Patankar as Product Unit Head for its FinTech business, as the company looks to expand its presence across digital payments, payment orchestration, embedded finance and tokenisation.

In his new role, Patankar will be responsible for driving Comviva’s global digital financial services business. His responsibilities will include supporting product innovation, expanding the company’s presence in developed markets and strengthening relationships with customers and ecosystem partners.

Patankar brings more than 28 years of international leadership experience spanning fintech, digital payments, banking technology, mobility, software products and enterprise digital transformation.

Before joining Comviva, he spent eight years with Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) ePayments, where he was responsible for the company’s global ePayments product portfolio.

During his tenure at G+D ePayments, Patankar worked across areas including digital wallets, tokenisation, digital identity, authentication and emerging payment technologies. He was also involved in initiatives focused on product development, innovation, customer engagement and international business growth.

Comviva Looks to Expand Its Digital Financial Services Business

Patankar said the financial services industry is entering a phase where payments, intelligent technologies and embedded experiences are increasingly converging.

I see a significant opportunity for Comviva to build on its strong global fintech foundation and accelerate the evolution from transaction-led platforms to intelligent, connected financial ecosystems,” said Sanjiv Patankar, Product Unit Head - FinTech, Comviva.

He added that Comviva plans to combine its domain expertise, product capabilities and international reach with technologies such as AI and tokenisation to develop scalable solutions for financial institutions, businesses and consumers.

Comviva Expands Global FinTech Footprint

Comviva has built a significant international presence through its fintech platforms. Its mobiquity® Pay platform is deployed across more than 50 countries, with over 500 million registered customers across more than 70 deployments.

The platform processes approximately half a trillion dollars annually, highlighting the scale of Comviva’s digital payments operations.

The company is also developing its capabilities in digital commerce and merchant payments. Its strategy includes partnerships and payment orchestration capabilities aimed at helping businesses operate across multiple markets and payment ecosystems.

With Patankar taking charge of the FinTech business, Comviva is looking to build on this existing global footprint while expanding its capabilities across digital payments, embedded finance, tokenisation and other emerging areas of financial technology.
