secunet Security Networks AG, Germany’s leading cybersecurity provider and long-standing IT security partner to the Federal Republic of Germany, reported strong financial performance for the 2021 fiscal year. The secunet Group generated revenues of €337.6 million, marking an 18% increase over the previous year’s €285.6 million. Earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) climbed 24% to €63.9 million, up from €51.6 million in 2020. Group profit rose to €43.0 million compared to €35.0 million the year before, with diluted and undiluted earnings per share improving to €6.66 (previous year: €5.43).

Growth was supported by solid contributions from both business segments — Public Sector and Business Sector.

Strong Performance Across Segments

The Public Sector, which serves government entities in Germany and abroad along with international institutions, recorded revenues of €278.1 million, up 17% from €237.1 million. EBIT increased to €57.4 million, a 7% rise from the previous year. This momentum was largely powered by robust demand for the SINA product portfolio and additional pandemic-driven procurement of secure mobile workstations.

The Business Sector, focused on private enterprises and the healthcare industry, delivered impressive growth with a 23% rise in revenue to €59.5 million (previous year: €48.5 million). EBIT also swung significantly upward to €6.5 million, following a loss of -€2.2 million in 2020. The turnaround was fuelled primarily by strong uptake of the secunet konnektor in the healthcare market.

Record Order Book & Improved Annual Financial Statements

As of 31 December 2021, secunet Group reported an order backlog of €185.2 million, up 24% from €149.5 million the previous year—driven mainly by increased demand from Public Sector clients.

According to secunet Security Networks AG’s commercial-law Annual Financial Statements, sales reached €327.4 million (previous year: €279.1 million), with EBIT rising to €62.9 million (previous year: €48.5 million). Net income improved to €43.5 million, compared with €32.8 million a year earlier.

A dividend proposal of €5.38 per share will be presented at the Annual General Meeting on 25 May 2022. This includes a regular dividend of €3.37 and a special dividend of €2.01 per share.
