In today’s age of relentless research reports and market updates, investors are drowning in data. Axis Capital believes it has found a smarter way to help them stay ahead—by turning research into sound. The investment bank has launched ‘Sound Bytes’, an AI-powered tool that delivers concise two-minute audio summaries of its research reports, a first-of-its-kind offering in India.
Part of Axis Capital’s Future-Forward Research Solutions Suite, Sound Bytes reimagines traditional text-heavy formats. The goal: help institutional investors sift through volumes of content quickly, saving deep analysis for when it truly matters.
“Sound Bytes directly tackles the challenge of information overload. And this is only the beginning—more innovations are on the way,” said Atul Mehra, MD & CEO, Axis Capital.
Why Audio, Why Now?
Despite advances in tech, research consumption has largely remained text-first. But with screen fatigue at an all-time high, Axis Capital sees audio as the natural next step. Sound Bytes allows investors to absorb insights while commuting, multitasking, or on the go—without losing sight of key theses or calls to action.
Unlike traditional abstracts, these summaries are designed as cognitive hooks—highlighting what truly matters so investors can decide if a deeper dive is needed. “Audio requires less cognitive load and reduces fatigue,” the company noted.
AI-Powered, Compliance-Ready
Axis Capital produces thousands of reports annually. Turning these into audio while meeting regulatory standards meant leaning on large language models (LLMs). The solution is fully integrated into the bank’s research and approval process, balancing speed with compliance.
“The enthusiastic response to our podcasts showed us the potential of non-text formats,” said Neelkanth Mishra, MD & Head of Global Research at Axis Capital & Chief Economist at Axis Bank. “Sound Bytes is an extension of that feedback loop.”
Built for India’s Market
Axis Capital emphasizes that this is not a borrowed idea but a homegrown solution. “Innovation demands breaking away from convention,” said Raman Jauhar, MD & Head of Equities. “Sound Bytes is tailored to ease the buyside’s cognitive load. It’s built for India’s market realities, not imported templates.”
Early Traction
Already, flagship reports—from GST rationalization to the quick commerce boom—have been converted into Sound Bytes. Recent thematic studies on household durables, diagnostics, and rare earth elements are also available in the format, showing growing investor interest.
Axis Capital sees this as just the beginning. By blending AI with finance, the bank aims to set new benchmarks in research delivery.
